New Sports Coordinator will help Paul’s Place get back to Boccia Competitions and more
Paul’s Place has recently received funding to appoint a sports coordinator for one year. This work has been made possible by an award from Postcode Local Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Support worker Kerry Lewis has taken the position in addition to keeping her role as a support worker.
“I want to make sure there is a balance between sports and all the other types of activity we offer at Paul’s Place,” Kerry explains.
She will develop Boccia more, ensuring all those who want to get involved can and helping to get people ready for competitions starting up again. Not only that, but she will ensure all other sporting activities also get equal care and attention, making sure there’s something for every skill set.
It was thanks to Kerry’s work in 2021 that she helped us be able to offer Yoga sessions at the facility and formed the partnership with Yate Outdoor Sports Complex. Both activities brought new energy to all those involved and are helping people regain their strength and stamina after lockdowns.
It’s also important to remember that sports are just one aspect of Paul’s Place. Kerry has been a support worker for many years, meaning she is perfect for this role. Her experience with the people we support means she knows what individuals want to achieve while attending Paul’s Place. She will ensure there is a balance between sporting and all the other activities as she continues to work with the rest of the support worker team.
We can’t wait to see what she achieves and wish her all the best in this new role.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Postcode Local Trust, without whom this would not have been possible.
