Paul’s Place will be arresting, charging and locking up some local supporters who if found guilty of their entirely fictitious crimes, will have to raise a bail of £999 each to be set free.
Jail and Bail is a fun and dramatized fundraising event to raise vital funds for Paul’s Place, a charity that enhances life for physically disabled adults.
The charity provides social activities that connect people, reduce isolation, improve health and wellbeing and give people the opportunity to develop new skills, enjoy new experiences and live life to the full.
On Friday 4th October, the accused will be arrested and locked up at the world famous Shepton Mallet Prison where they will face a specially designed prison cell featuring steel reinforced walls, electronic doors and pitch-black conditions, making it deemed inescapable. Once locked inside, escape is no longer an option or is it?
Kayley Waller, Head of Fundraising and Communications for Paul’s Place said
“We are so excited about our first ever Jail and Bail event, especially with such a brilliant group of supporters. It’s set to be such a unique fundraising experience, and we really hope all our ‘prisoners’ friends, family and colleagues will support them to help raise their bail for release.”
One of the ‘prisoners’ set to take part is celebrity chef and presenter Briony May Williams. Bristol born Briony is a patron of Paul’s Place and appeared on series 9 of The Great British Bake Off in 2018, finishing fourth. She now presents the cooking show Food Unwrapped and the reality housing show Escape to the Country.
Briony said
“I am so inspired by how Paul’s Place supports disabled people in achieving things that they have always wanted to so when I was asked to take part and be locked up, I jumped at the chance. I’m so excited to get involved and fundraise for such a wonderful charity but I just really hope that everyone gets behind us!”
Taking part alongside Briony is the charity’s CEO, Lynda Williams, as well as two of the charity’s trustees and groups from Motability, Bluebird Care, First Call Financials and SJP studios.
